Part 1

1) The audience is inclined to believe that our 2 main characters are typical, rebellious British gangsters as during the first part of the film, they get in trouble with other people.

2) It emphasises his point as despite them appearing like delinquents, they're actually nice people on the inside. It subverts typical expectations and gives the audience multiple interpretations on who they are. Some could even argue that they're still bad, like when they robbed the store and pretended to hold the shopkeeper at gunpoint.

Part 2

1) The signifier and the signified

2) Media texts have multiple meanings

3) Ideas/stereotypes that are widely accepted in a society become "naturalised" (it becomes common knowledge)

4) 
Enigma code - something that is left unexplained to the audience
Action code - sequential elements of action create meaning
Semantic code - elements of text carry deeper meaning
Symbolic code -  used to describe anything that has a symbolic meaning behind it
Cultural code - anything that refers to an external body of knowledge present and cultural knowledge

2) Icons and Indexes are very important in media as they give a rough idea of what someone/something is about without explaining too much. 

3) People may associate them with things they might not find ideal.

4) YouTube video Burger King made an advertisement that associated their flagship burger with bad things.

  Task 1 - Genre Factsheets 1) Genres are recognisable through the repeated use of generic/standardised codes and conventions . These codes and conventions are considered to be coming from the visual iconographies within the text. First Blog Task

 1) Why did you choose A Level Media Studies? I chose A Level Media Studies because I enjoy media, in general and as a subject. I enjoyed GCSE Media Studies a lot and I hope that I will enjoy A Level Media also. 2) Did you take GCSE Media Studies (either here at Greenford or a different school)? I did, I took GCSE Media Studies here at Greenford. 3) If you answered yes to Q2, what grade did you achieve in GCSE Media? What coursework task did you complete? What would you say your strengths and weaknesses were in GCSE Media? I achieved a grade 9 in my coursework and a grade 7 overall, taking exams into account. I did a 2 minute TV drama extract. I would say I was a lot better at doing the coursework than I was doing the exams. 4) What grade do you hope to achieve in A Level Media? I hope to achieve the highest grade I possibly can get.
