Part 1

1) The audience is inclined to believe that our 2 main characters are typical, rebellious British gangsters as during the first part of the film, they get in trouble with other people.

2) It emphasises his point as despite them appearing like delinquents, they're actually nice people on the inside. It subverts typical expectations and gives the audience multiple interpretations on who they are. Some could even argue that they're still bad, like when they robbed the store and pretended to hold the shopkeeper at gunpoint.

Part 2

1) The signifier and the signified

2) Media texts have multiple meanings

3) Ideas/stereotypes that are widely accepted in a society become "naturalised" (it becomes common knowledge)

4) 
Enigma code - something that is left unexplained to the audience
Action code - sequential elements of action create meaning
Semantic code - elements of text carry deeper meaning
Symbolic code -  used to describe anything that has a symbolic meaning behind it
Cultural code - anything that refers to an external body of knowledge present and cultural knowledge

2) Icons and Indexes are very important in media as they give a rough idea of what someone/something is about without explaining too much. 

3) People may associate them with things they might not find ideal.

4) YouTube video Burger King made an advertisement that associated their flagship burger with bad things.
